Normal Saline is a prescription medicine used for fluid and electrolyte replenishment for intravenous administration.

Our body cells are bathed in a watery fluid that contains primary sodium and chloride ions. These molecules play a vital role in maintaining proper fluid balance and keeping our tissues hydrated. Additionally, sodium is involved in many cell processes such as muscle contraction, transmission of nerve impulses, and kidney function. Chloride ions are responsible for maintaining the acid-base balance. To sustain life it’s very important to maintain these ions within a narrow therapeutic range.

Comes in 500ml.

The Challenge

Securing Lifelong Access to Medications in Africa

Challenge

The key challenges confronting Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry include counterfeit medicines, poor manufacturing infrastructure and the limited spending power of the populace. The industry was estimated to be worth US$600 million in 2009 and has grown at, at least, 10 per cent year-on-year. Despite government efforts to promote domestic manufacturing, Nigeria remains heavily reliant on imported pharmaceuticals, many of which can be manufactured locally.

Solution

The pharmaceutical sector is a complex one, involving many different stakeholders such as the manufacturers, regulators, wholesalers and others. Developing the industry requires concerted action across these stakeholders to create the environment in which our industry can flourish and realize its full potential as an asset to economic and social development. At Apline, our dream is to secure Nigeria’s access to medications, and expand to other African countries.
